Early in 2011, Scott Steele, the goalie for a soccer team in Granville, Ohio spoke with Michael McVey asking if talegence could sponsor his soccer team. The team is basically a “pick up” team; which means within a short period of time they randomly met each other and recommended others to be involved until they had a team. Currently, most of them have played at least three years together.

The team is made up of ten of people who love soccer and good health. They are a diverse group: two women and eight men, seven over 40 and three under 20 years of age (no other team had half as many over 40), and from a variety of work lives such as healthcare, manufacturing, federal government, law, coaching, and students.

talegence agreed to sponsor them. In July they entered the Columbus Crew (US professional soccer team in the MLS) Corporate Cup Challenge, held in the Columbus Crew stadium.

They played five games in the tournament and finished at 4-0-1. They defeated Team Perez from Dayton, 2-1, in the championship game.

They were a classic illustration of great teamwork; lots of passing, equal playing time, and lots of support/cheering each other on!

talegence sponsored the team, but got much more in return.. They were an inspiration and plenty of fun!
